DRAWING THE LINE

Mapping Border Barriers Today

What means do governments use to obstruct people from migrating? In Drawing the Line I map the current border barriers on a geographical grid, exposing relations and conflicts within regions. This illustrates which regions suffer from economic imbalance, which countries have strong internal politics and which conflicts have remained unsolved for the last 30 or 40 years.

The 'walls' are represented by brass plates with scaled height . The reasons why the barriers are raised is linked to symbols on the walls including the construction year and total length..

The end result is an informative sculpture, between a map and a jewel, ironically referring to often unknown no-man's spaces in today's globalized  world.
